Try this first

Take the shortest safe route.

  1. Open Settings, then Wi-Fi, and confirm the venue network is selected.
  2. Wait for the venue login screen. If it does not appear, tap Open Wi-Fi Login and allow Safari to open.
  3. Complete the venue flow on its page.
  4. Restore any VPN, Private Relay, or DNS setting you changed, then try a secure website.

Apple sequence

Return to the selected network before changing settings.

Apple's guidance begins in Settings > Wi-Fi. Select the network and follow the captive login screen if it appears. If you cancel the login, the device can remain associated without usable internet depending on the choice shown by the operating system.

  • Confirm the checkmark is beside the intended network.
  • Use the information button only for settings you recognize.
  • Open the rescue page in Safari if the venue screen stays missing.

Privacy settings

Pause only what is necessary, then restore it.

A personal VPN or network-specific privacy feature may affect a captive login. Treat that as a possibility, not proof. Change one setting, retry once, and put it back after login.

Do not change managed settings on an employer or school device without permission.

When the venue needs to act

Know when to stop troubleshooting.

Ask the venue to confirm its network name and reset the device session when the portal rejects valid venue details, loops, or never appears on a second device.
