Before you leave

Pack the information you cannot afford to lose access to.

Our preparation checklist starts with the journey, not the network settings. Think through what you would need if the first airport or hotel connection failed.

  • Save essential bookings, addresses, and travel instructions using the relevant app’s offline option. Check that they actually open.
  • Finish browser and system updates before departure, leaving time for a restart.
  • Check your mobile-data or hotspot allowance if that is your backup. Do not assume roaming is included.
  • For work travel, confirm the approved remote-access method and an offline way to contact IT.

Save the rescue

Open Save Wi-Fi Rescue while online and wait for the offline-ready message. On a phone, follow the iPhone/iPad or Android Home Screen instructions. On a laptop, bookmark that rescue page using your browser’s bookmark menu. The setup page shows keyboard shortcuts too.

Open the saved icon or bookmark once while still online. Then temporarily disconnect from the internet and reopen it to check that the instructions are there. Reconnect after the check.

The saved page contains rescue instructions, not the whole website. Browser cleanup, storage eviction, private browsing, or a different browser can remove or lack the offline copy. Test on the device and browser you will use.

When you arrive

Join, sign in, then check your actual task.

Confirm the guest network with staff and join it. If its sign-in page is missing, open your saved Wi-Fi Rescue and tap Open Wi-Fi Login. If the sign-in appears, complete only the expected process. If nothing appears, follow the saved next steps or ask staff.

  • Turn your VPN back on if you paused it; restore your preferred DNS if you changed it.
  • Open the site or app you need. A Wi-Fi icon by itself does not establish that your work connection is usable.
  • On a phone, remember that cellular data may be carrying a successful request. Do not treat that as proof that the public Wi-Fi works.

Before the next trip

Give your saved shortcut a quick check.

Repeat the offline-open test after switching browsers, clearing website data, or changing devices. If it fails, reopen the setup page online and prepare it again. If you cannot prepare offline access, keep the plain address http://getmewifi.help/ in a note as a fallback, without assuming that the address alone stores any instructions.
